To the Castellers
Plaça de Sant Miquel
Sculptor: Antoni Llena
Materials: Steel
Inauguration: February 12, 2012
It is a conceptual construction in which Llena wanted to simulate a volcanic architecture that expressly avoids folklore. It represents the fragility of a castle from 12 steel tubes that should’ve been crowned with a crumpled aluminum plate, according to the first scale model. But this plate was suppressed in the final project, to reduce the weight of the structure and to avoid potential accidents due to fall in the future. The monument has also lowered the initially expected height from 30 meters to 27, so that it does not exceed that of the town hall building.
