Moll de la Fusta

This monument is one of three located in the port of Barcelona who made the sculptor Ros Sabate with sailor motif in the sixties. The three represent a sailing boat plying the waves, all metal, and closely resemble each other. One of the three, located on the waterfront, is dedicated to the creators of skate sailing; another, reminiscent of the victory at the Battle of Lepanto, off the Atarazanas, and he dedicated the athlete sea, situated at the point where they join Wharf Spain and Wood in near the monument of Roy Lichtenstein Barcelona head since then.

Both athletes monument to the sea as dedicated to the Battle of Lepanto, placed two years apart, were an initiative of the Assembly of Captains Yacht not distinguished precisely by its progressiveness. In the opening on March 15, 1969, military uniforms abounded: it was attended by the Minister of Marine, Admiral Nieto Antúnez; Captain General Perez Viñeta; the national delegate of Sports, Jose Antonio Samaranch; the civil governor, Thomas Garicano, and other officials of the Navy and the Army.
