In 1992, in the monumental fever, Josep Marull, then manager of the Municipal Institute of Health instructed its neighbor Pete Sans, Camallera, to find him a number of artists to do some murals and put some sculptures in the reformed Hospital Mar, designed by the architects Manuel Brullet and Albert de Pineda. 16 works, one of them a sculpture in the courtyard of the lobby that was reserved for him Sans got. To search for artists started from two premises: "that interested me personally his work and to represent the vanguard of the future Barcelona." Thorn sea is a work of remarkable proportions, made of aluminum and surrounded by plants.
