When the Government was installed in the early fifteenth century, in a house that had been the Jewish until his sacking in Barcelona, ​​in 1391, it undertook renovations to immediately adapt to the new I had to have public use. While modifying some of the interior rooms, commissioned the architect Marc Safont (18 July 1416) to make a new fence for the garden of the house, the band is now facing the the Carrer del Bisbe street and then called Headquarters. This would close the entrance to the noble Palace, which until then had been located in Carrer Sant Honorat.

The work lasted two years. On the monumental gate, there Safont foresaw a sculptural decoration of leaves and roses with small human heads. At the center of the railing crowned pinnacles which was a little off and accompanied by gargoyles with figures, he anticipated a medallion with a St George on horseback slaying the dragon who commissioned the sculptor Pere Joan. This Gothic portal was completed in 1418.
