Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad, or Caisse des Marquises, bought some land to raise its headquarters in Plaça Sant Jaume. The building was designed by August Font i Carreras and won the award for the best building of 1902. Meanwhile, on 30 January 1901, the board of directors had ordered an image of Saint James, the right place, the sculptor Manuel Fuxà 10,000 pesetas. This project was faithful to the idea, adopted a few years ago, placed under the protection of the holy place chosen appropriate to put a branch of the Bank. In this case, it was the Plaça de Sant Jaume. The image of the saint was placed in the traditional style niche in the corner with the City in 1903. In St. Peter's Square and the street Gran de Gracia there are other images with the same origin.
