The practice of putting religious images in corners or alcoves spread through the old quarters of Barcelona. The guild of tanners, which brought together all those working in this office, chose the figure of its patron saint, San Juan Bautista, and put it in the corner that makes the small square of Marcús the street bearing the name of those who practiced this profession one day of the year 1628. Under the image you can read the recommendation pray an Our Father and a Hail Mary to earn 40 days of forgiveness in a time when it was believed in indulgences.
