Olympic Barcelona
Lobby of the City Hall (access through Plaça Sant Jaume)
Sculptor: Joan Mora signed
Materials: limestone from Calatorao on polished limestone pedestal from San Vicente
Inauguration: April 25, 1996
Juan Antonio Samaranch, as president of the International Olympic Committee, thanked Barcelona for the success of the 1992 Olympic Games and commissioned the Andalusian sculptor Joan Mora a hyper-realistic work, which represents a suitcase and an Olympic torch. It is the only monument to the lobby that shows the inscription of the pedestal who was the donor. The inauguration took place on April 25, 1996, in the presence of Samaranch and the author.
For its part, the City Council of Barcelona shortly afterwards gave the Lausanne Olympic Museum a square meter of the city (a set of twenty-five frames of "flower" framed with stainless steel).
