Carrer del Bisbe, entering the Palau del Bisbe

Sculptor: Josep Maria Camps (original), Thomas Bel reconstruction
Materials: limestone

In 1927, as part of the reforms that were carried out at the place now known as the Gothic Quarter, the diocesan architect Enric Sagnier redesigned the courtyard of the Bishop Prelate commissioned by Josep Miralles. Then he ordered an image of the Virgin of the sculptor specializing in religious images and Josep Maria Camps Arnau. On 21 July 1936, at the outbreak of the revolution, the Bishop's Palace was assaulted, but the image will surely be saved. After the Civil War, the image returned to its place, but in 1959 was so eroded that the canon Camprubí ordered another one to the sculptor Tomás Bel, which is now located in the middle of the courtyard.
