Guild House Boats

The headquarters of the Association of Art Major Silk, established in 1553 and commonly known as the Guild of Sailing (ie veils of silk weavers), was built between 1758 and 1763

The Guild of Sailing (Velo weavers and mantillas silk or linen hand) is important to hizo mid eighteenth century, cuando las artes menores adquirieron safe predominance

This situation of prosperity led to the construction of a separate room located between Via Laietana, the street Sant Pere month Alt and Lluís Millet square. This building is one of the few testimonies that has come from the union building of the eighteenth century. The works were commissioned to master builder Joan Garrido. They began in 1760 and ended in 1764, although the sign on the door says "Guild House of Sailboats this city 1763".

It was expanded in 1928 by the architect Jeroni Martorell, following the same stylistic characters (the extension includes the entire body of the building overlooking the square of Lluís Millet). The main floor still belongs to Gremi (College of Mayor Art Seda), while others are used as private homes. Among the decorative elements of the exterior highlights grafiados with classic caryatids and Atlanteans representations. This mural decoration, widely used in the eighteenth century, consists of drawing the line, blowing the last coating and exposing the above, of another color.
